fantastic! - I love this satnav its so easy to use, even my dad was quite impressed with it, and he has to use ones that are suitable for his lorry driving job! would certainly reccommend. Also if you register the satnav at navman.com and then register for the free map updates next year! but you have to register before a certain date think it could be 30th december? don t quote me on that. But the free map updates are an added bonus!
Not up to my expectation - Navman S30 3D Satellite Navigation Unit With UK & Ireland MappingThe only way I could think of to measure the accuracy of the Navman S30 unit was to set it up with a trip I was familiar with, but rather than going out in the car I put it into demo mode.I setup home, and then setup a favorite destination - both very simple. It found the postcode, but not the house of my destination - so I put in 16 rather than 15 - no big deal. The unit was in default (i.e quickest, motorways, etc), and it had no problem getting to the destination town. Unfortunately, it then took the tourist route, but eventually arrived at the destination. If I had not know the route I probably wouldn t have noticed.I then re-ran avoiding motorways, and it came off the dual carriageway at the correct roundabout, but unfortunately missed a sharp right just after the roundabout, and instructed me to drive in the completely wrong direction for 3 miles. The reason for getting sat nav was because we are visiting some unfamiliar areas in the near future, but after this demo, I am not confident that the Navman S30 will get me where I want to go.
Specification currently incorrect - This is an excellent and easy to use Sat Nav but Navman do not currently sell a Traffic Cradle for this model so the Traffic data integration stated in the specification is not available and they do not give a projected date for availability of this option either although they do state that it will cost around £49.99 when it does become available. If you want/need Traffic data then you should consider another model.
NAVMAN S30 3D - I purchased and returned this item last week as you can not attach an external antenna as picture states and as stated on the box. I called Navman direct in the Phillipines who confirmed that this is a mistake obviously on their behalf. The Image shown on Amazon s website is that of the older model S30 and not the S30 3D. The difference between the 2 visually is that the 3D version does not have the external ports on the side as shown in the picture above. It only has a port for an SD mapping card and a port for a usb/charger. Please do not make the mistake I made and purchase this on what you are seeing in the picture. I have informed Amazon about this on my returns notice, but they have obviously chosen to show the same picture. I have since purchased the S30 from a very popular auction site which is as shown in this picture for £65.00 whereby I can now use it in my car as my car has a heat reflective front windscreen. JUST TO CLARIFY, THE MODEL SHOWN IN THE PICTURE IS NOT THAT OF THE S30 3D BUT OF THE OLDER S30 VERSION. WITH THE 3D VERSION YOU CANNOT ATTACH AN EXTERNAL ANTENNA FOR CARS WITH HEAT REFLECTIVE WINDSCREENS AS LEAD TO BELIEVE FROM THIS PIC AND AS STATED ON THE SIDE OF THE BOX. THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY NAVMAN DIRECT.
